Low-temperature fluid-phase behavior of ST2 water

چکیده
We perform histogram-reweighting Monte Carlo simulations of the ST2 model of water in the grand-canonical ensemble in order to investigate its low-temperature fluid-phase behavior. Using Ewald summation treatment of long-range electrostatic interactions, we locate the critical point of the liquid-liquid transition at T = 237Ϯ 4 K, = 0.99Ϯ 0.02 g / cc, P = 167Ϯ 24 MPa. Contrary to previous reports in the literature ͓Brovchenko et al., according to which there are three liquid-liquid transitions in ST2 with simple truncation of electrostatic interactions, and two in ST2 with reaction field treatment of long-range Coulombic forces, we find only one liquid-liquid transition. Our work points to the sensitivity of results to the proper treatment of electrostatic interactions, and to the introduction of artificial constraints that limit the magnitude of density fluctuations.

Dynamical behavior near a liquid-liquid phase transition in simulations of supercooled water.
We examine the behavior of the diffusion coefficient of the ST2 model of water over a broad region of the phase diagram via molecular dynamics simulations. The ST2 model has an accessible liquid-liquid transition between low-density and high-density phases, making the model an ideal candidate to explore the impacts of the liquid-liquid transition on dynamics. We locate characteristic dynamical ...
متن کاملInvestigation of nanoparticles diameter on free convection of Aluminum Oxide-Water nanofluid by single phase and two phase models
In this research, effect of nanoparticles dimeter on free convection of aluminum oxide-water was investigated in a cavity by single phase and two phase models. The range of Rayleigh number is considered 105-107 in volume fractions of 0.01 to 0.03 for nanoparticles with various diameters (25, 33, 50 and 100 nm). Given that the two phase nature of nanofluids, necessity of modeling by this method ...

The Lake Siah magnetite ± apatite deposit is situated in the northeastern of Bafq and Central Iran tectonic zone. The host rock of deposit is composed from lower Cambrian volcano-sedimentary sequence that has exposed as caldera complex. The iron mineralization is as massive ore and includes magnetite and hematite which form with apatite, quartz and calcite gangue minerals. Based on fluid inclus...
متن کاملStudy of Two Phase Fluid Flow in Water Wet Reservoir Rocks by Using X-Ray In situ Saturation Monitoring
Displacement of oil and water in porous media of reservoir rocks is described by relative permeability curves, which are important input data for reservoir performance simulation and drive mechanism studies. Many core studies, such as multiphase relative permeability, capillary pressure and saturation exponent determination, depend on the volume fractions of multiphase flui...
متن کاملPotential energy landscape of the apparent first-order phase transition between low-density and high-density amorphous ice.
The potential energy landscape (PEL) formalism is a valuable approach within statistical mechanics to describe supercooled liquids and glasses. Here we use the PEL formalism and computer simulations to study the pressure-induced transformations between low-density amorphous ice (LDA) and high-density amorphous ice (HDA) at different temperatures. We employ the ST2 water model for which the LDA-...
